Farm Safari at Lower Farm East Meon

Take a ride on a tractor trailor with local farmer George Atkinson and learn how his family farm this area of the South Downs and care for the local environment. Lower farm is situated at the head of the Meon Valley in the heart of the South Downs. It is part of a 1200 acre mixed holding run by the family since 1905.

Pupils will take a ride across country with opportunities to stop and learn about the surrounding countryside. Depending on the time of year pupils may see lambs and calves and will certainly see sheep, cows and horses.

 Pupils will be encouraged to think about how farming effects the landscape they see around them and to consider where their food comes from.

This is an exciting experience for children aged 8 years and over using a trailor standardised for taking parties on safari under cover. The trailor can accommodate 30 pupils.
