Petersfield School

We have linked up with Petersfield School to try and offer an alternative form of education for young people who are not inspired by academic study . These young people are able to enjoy a range of activities based in our woodlands

This year we have involved two groups from a local school and they have experienced woodland management and greenwood working . They have coppiced trees, created wood chip for our boiler,  used wood splitting machinery and helped identify the trees on our site. Some of the students continued to visit the Centre as volunteers during their holidays.

The Sustainability Centre provides a unique and fascinating experience for all age ranges and all learning abilities and all backgrounds.

Adults equally enjoy the Centre. We offer a range of courses. Some teach how to change behaviour so that we have less impact on our environment . Other courses teach skills such as spinning, woodland management, coppicing, permaculture and much much more. We believe that by attending courses,  students are often motivated to venture into other areas of sustainable living .

The volunteering programme we run has seen many individuals able to return to work after gaining experience and confidence through us. Some had previously been unemployed for several years. Other volunteers come as part of a group, such as Clanfield Gardening Club or some come as individuals to gain friends and improve their health.
